Sennheiser India has launched its official online store, at shop.sennheiserindia.com. However, the website is independently operated by Net Distribution Services Private Limited (NDSL), a company that operates multi & single brand stores. NDSL also operates and manages online stores for Walt Disney India, Fastrack, Tantra T-Shirts, among others.
The website UI looks different than a lot of eCommerce websites with minimal content on its page making browsing the website a pleasant experience. However, the design of the website can do with some more refinement. The website sells Sennheiser headphones, headsets, and microphones. All the products come with 2 years warranty.
Apart from selling Sennheiser products, the website also provides dealer search, that allows users to search dealers in their location. We tried searching for dealers in Mumbai and were able to get a list of dealers in south, central, and suburban Mumbai.
Payment and delivery (No COD)
The website accepts payment from credit/debit card and Net payment. However, it does not offer Cash on delivery (COD) option which many ecommerce websites in India offer. The website mentions that it offers express delivery, however, when we tried to buy a MM 30I headphone it only offered us free shipping. With free shipping, the website claims to ship products within 5–7 business days from receipt of order and payment. For now, the site offers free shipping on all of its products.
Sennheiser online portal competes with every other ecommerce portal that sells Sennheiser products including Flipkart, Infibeam, among others. While Sennheiser store offers shipping in 5–7 business days, the competition offers much better service with delivery within 2–3 business days and ability to pay cash on delivery. So we’re not sure if potential customers will choose the compay’s official online store over others.
While many eCommerce websites have stated that a large percentage of users prefer to opt to COD in India, it’s surprising that Sennheiser’s online portal does not offer users with this facility. While it helps to gain trust among users, COD has also proven to be a pain point for e-commerce companies.
